Eligibility to become a lady Police constable in WB
As per the official notification, the post of police constable requires several eligibility conditions which a candidate should check before they apply for this post. Here are the eligibility conditions which they can check before applying.
WB Police Lady Constable Age Limit
Applicants who want to apply for this post should have to be within 18 years to 27 years as on 01-01-2023. Age relaxation for other candidates shall be as follows
- For SC/ST Candidates of West Bengal by 5 years.
- For OBC Candidates of WB by 3 years.
Essential Qualification
Applicants should have passed matriculation from any recognized Educational Institution. Applicants should also know how to read and write in the Bengali language.

How are WB Police Lady Constables selected ?
West Bengal Police Recruitment Board conducts the recruitment of lady constables every year and it is a very popular recruitment in West Bengal. The recruitment of the posts involves several processes from physical eligibility test, written exam, interview, medical test, and others. These are discussed below.
WBP Lady Constable Preliminary Written Test
The first process is the preliminary written test. The test will have 100 objective type questions having multiple choices (four choices) of answers carrying equal marks each. The total marks of the test are 100 and the exam shall be of 1-hour duration. There will be NEGATIVE marking for each wrong answer. ¼th of the allotted marks for a particular question will be deducted for each wrong answer. Questions of the Test shall be from the following subjects:-
- General Awareness and General Knowledge: 40 Marks
- Elementary Mathematics: 30 Marks
- Reasoning: 30 Marks
WBP Lady Constable Physical Standard Test
Those who qualify the preliminary written test shall be summoned for physical measurement test. The test will be as per the physical standard mentioned above in our post.
WB Police Lady Constables PET Details
Aspirants who qualify in PMT will be allowed to take part in Physical Efficiency Test. PET consists of 800 mtr. (Eight hundred) run within 04 (four) minutes and 30 seconds.
WBP Lady Constable Final Written Test
Candidates who qualify in the Physical Measurement Test (PMT) & Physical Measurement Test (PET) will be called for the Final Written Examination. The Final Written Examination will have Multiple Choice (Four choices) Objective Type Questions (MCQs) carrying equal marks each. The total number of questions will be 85 (eighty-five). The duration of the examination will be 1 (One) hour. There will be NEGATIVE marking of ¼th of the allotted marks for each wrong answer. The question shall be from the following subjects:-
- General Awareness and General Knowledge – 25 Marks
- English – 10 Marks
- Elementary Mathematics (Madhyamik standard) – 25 Marks
- Reasoning and Logical Analysis – 25 Marks
WB Lady Constable Interview
Only those candidates who qualify for the above process will be called for Interview in accordance with merit. Based on the performance in the Final Written Examination and the Interview, a merit list of the provisionally selected candidates will be prepared by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board.
WBP Lady Constable Medical & Antecedent Verification
Provisionally selected candidates shall have to clear the medical examination to be conducted at the State Government designated hospitals.
