The Preliminary Exam of JPSC AE (Civil & Mechanical) will have two papers of 100 questions each. The questions will be objective in nature and this test will be screening in nature. The score in the Preliminary Exam will not be considered for the final selection.

- Candidates must answer Conventional Papers in English.
- The Question Papers will be set in English only.
- The Objective type papers in Section I will be evaluated first, and evaluation of conventional papers in Section II will only be done for those candidates who obtain the qualifying marks in Section I as decided by JPSC.
- Candidates are allowed to carry battery-operated calculator for conventional papers only.
- Only the International System of numerals ( 1,2.3,4, etc) is allowed on the answer sheet.
JPSC Assistant Engineer Personality Test Details
The Personality Test will carry 200 marks. This Test will be for the candidates who qualify on the basis for the Mains Examination. During the Personality Test, the commission will try to assess the candidate’s capacity for leadership, initiative and intellectual curiosity, tact and other social qualities, mental and physical energy, power of practical application and integrity of character.
